Cobi Player plays video with libVLC by the VideoLAN project, used under the GNU LGPL version 2.1. The Swift wrapper SwiftVLC is used under the MIT license.
libVLC (LGPL‑2.1)
The copy of libVLC embedded in Cobi Player is modified: it is built without the GPL‑licensed modules, and it carries our own patches, among them one that lets the app supply its own video layer (needed for hardware decoding together with Picture‑in‑Picture on iOS).
- Our changes to libVLC (the patches in
scripts/patches/) and the build script that reproduces the exact version we ship: github.com/c0b1-dev/SwiftVLC-LGPL. It builds on libVLC commitc833c4be0, which the script fetches from the upstream repository below and then patches. - Upstream project: code.videolan.org/videolan/vlc · videolan.org

libVLC is linked statically. As required by section 6 of the LGPL, we hereby offer — valid for three years from the distribution of this version, to anyone who asks — the object code and any data needed to relink Cobi Player against a modified version of the library, for a charge no greater than our cost of physically performing the distribution. Write to support@cobiplayer.app.
SwiftVLC (MIT)
Swift bindings for libVLC: github.com/harflabs/SwiftVLC — our fork with the LGPL‑only build is linked above.
