What's new

What's new in Cobi Player

Every version, newest first.

Version 1.4

Mac

Cobi Player for Mac.

A real Mac app, in the Mac App Store, and free to watch. A bar on the left for Home, Live TV, Movies, Series and Favorites, a real full screen for the player, the keyboard and the menu bar. Pro and the scenes bought on another device unlock the Mac too, and device sync and the account transfer work as on your other devices.

iPhone & iPad

The biggest update so far — and Cobi Player on the Mac.

  • Now on the Mac as well: a real Mac app, free to watch. Pro and the scenes you bought unlock it too.
  • A new layout: tabs at the bottom on iPhone — Home, Live, Movies, Series and Favorites, each keeping its place — and the same five in a bar on the left on iPad, with your profile at its foot.
  • Home: Continue Watching holds what you started and haven't finished, one tile per series. Recent holds the rest, and each row has its own Clear.
  • Catch-up now lives in Live TV: the Archive switch shows the channels you can rewind.
  • At the end of an episode the next one starts after a short countdown. After three in a row, Cobi Player asks if you're still watching. A series you are in the middle of offers Next Episode next to Continue Watching.
  • Close a film or an episode and you are back on its page. On iPhone, closing the small floating player just stops it.
  • Film and series pages with a large picture, cast & crew with photos, badges such as 4K, HDR and 5.1, and more from the same category.
  • If your provider's guide was hours off, Cobi Player now reads its times the way the provider means them. Still off? Settings › Edit Active Profile › Program Times.
  • Appearance (Pro): color themes, dark, light or automatic, backgrounds, fonts and a matching PRO app icon.
  • Scenes put a picture behind your lists. Each one is its own purchase, cheaper with Pro, and yours to keep.
  • Cobi Player Pro: the yearly plan now starts with a free week for new subscribers.
  • Favorites: headings, A–Z sorts your folders too, and two folders can no longer have the same name.
  • If your provider refuses a stream because another device is using your connection, Cobi Player tells you so. A film whose stream breaks off midway reconnects at the same spot.
  • Double-tap the left or right of a film to skip, and keep tapping to add more.
  • Settings › About: Report a Problem and Suggest an Idea take you to this website. Deleting a profile now asks first.

Apple TV

Free to watch, on cinema-style pages.

Your own service on Apple TV is now free to watch, with no time limit: the trial is gone. Cobi Player Pro adds folders, lists, player extras, sync and your own look — and the yearly plan starts with a free week for new subscribers.

  • Now on the Mac as well, free to watch. Pro and the scenes you bought unlock it too.
  • Home opens on what you are watching — continue it, or move on to the next episode — with your rows below.
  • Live TV, Movies and Series start on your countries. A country shows its categories as a row at the top and its titles below.
  • Settings are now under your profile, at the top right. Switching channels shows a small banner instead of the whole control bar.
  • At the end of an episode the next one starts after a short countdown, and a series you are in the middle of offers Next Episode next to Continue Watching.
  • Film and series pages with a large picture, cast & crew with photos, badges such as 4K, HDR and 5.1, and more from the same category. A trailer the YouTube app does not open appears as a code for your iPhone or iPad.
  • If your provider's guide was hours off, Cobi Player now reads its times the way the provider means them.
  • Appearance (Pro) and Scenes: color themes, backgrounds and fonts, and pictures behind your lists.
  • Favorites can be sorted A–Z, folders included. Settings › About: Make Cobi Player Better shows a code for this website.

Version 1.3.1

Apple TV

Try Cobi Player free for 7 days.

Start the free trial when you first open your own service, or in Settings › Cobi Player Pro. If you already use Cobi Player, your 7 days start only when you choose “Start Free Trial”. After the trial, your own service needs Cobi Player Pro — as a yearly subscription or a one-time purchase. The preview stays free, and nothing you set up is deleted.

  • Moving your account from your iPhone with the 8-digit code is now free.
  • Ready for tvOS 27, with sound reworked for it.
  • Search: the country buttons now also narrow down movies and series, and a category found by name always opens in the right section.
  • Switching channels is cleaner: the previous stream now closes completely before the next one starts, which helps with services that allow only one connection at a time.
  • When you switch profiles, you stay on the tab you were on, as long as the new profile has it.
  • The guide you open from the player now starts on the program that is on now.
  • New in Settings › About: “Rate Cobi Player”, for rating the app in the App Store.

iPhone & iPad

Pro as a yearly plan, and smaller ads on iPhone.

  • Cobi Player Pro now also comes as a yearly subscription. Or pay once, as before: the same Pro either way, on iPhone, iPad and Apple TV.
  • Moving your account to your Apple TV with the 8-digit code is now free.
  • Smaller ads on iPhone: the ad banner at the bottom of the screen is now at most half as tall as before, so you see more of your channels, movies and series. In landscape it takes even less room.
  • New in Settings › About: “Rate Cobi Player” takes you straight to the App Store, where you can rate or review the app.
  • Now and then, after you have finished watching something, Cobi Player may ask for a rating with Apple’s standard dialog — never while you are watching, and at most once per version.

Version 1.3

iPhone & iPad

Ready for iOS 27.

  • Search is no longer tied to the section you are in: switch between Live, Movies, Series and Categories right in the search field, and a result opens in its own section. Nothing found? One tap searches another section, and country buttons narrow down long result lists.
  • “Customize Countries” now also appears in Movies and Series, not just in Live TV, when your provider groups them by country. Hide the countries you never watch with Cobi Player Pro.
  • Sound and Picture in Picture are reworked for iOS 27.
  • Switching channels is cleaner: the previous stream now closes completely before the next one starts, which helps with services that allow only one connection at a time.
  • The ad banner fits the space it has: it is no longer cut off at the sides in landscape, and no longer leaves a black block after you rotate the device.
  • On 13-inch iPads with iPadOS 27, opening a movie, or rotating the iPad with a movie open, could freeze the app. Fixed.

Version 1.2

Apple TV

Cobi Player comes to Apple TV.

The first version for Apple TV: live TV, movies and series from your own Xtream account or M3U playlist, sorted by country, with the guide, catch-up where your provider offers it, favorites and Continue Watching.

iPhone & iPad

Subtitles now appear — and films can be scrubbed.

Two faults in the playback engine are fixed. Both were completely silent — no crash, no error message — which is why they lasted as long as they did.

Subtitles did not appear on iPhone, iPad or Mac at all, whatever the language or format; on Apple TV only plain tracks worked, and styled ones stayed invisible. Two separate faults were behind that. The engine had been built without a font provider, so styled subtitles were decoded and then simply not drawn — on every device. And on iPhone, iPad and Mac the subtitle layer was never created in the first place, which took the rest with it. Both are fixed. They still do not appear in Picture in Picture: that small window mirrors the video layer only.

Seeking inside most films froze the picture for a few seconds and then threw the film back to the start. Every jump sent the sound track to the beginning of the file, and playback then crawled back towards your position. Dragging the slider, tapping +10s and resuming a film all land straight away now. And if a film does stall, it reconnects where it stopped instead of starting over.

  • The bar at the bottom is no longer a black strip when no ad was delivered, and an ad already on screen is no longer thrown away every time you start a video.
  • Apple TV: the audio track list is always shown, repeated ten-second skips add up correctly, search finds names written with capitals or accents, and results are no longer squeezed into three lines.
  • A purchase that fails now says so instead of doing nothing.
  • A wrong or expired transfer code is reported at once instead of after a long wait.

Version 1.1

iPhone & iPad

Ads now follow your own choice.

Version 1.0 always requested generic ads, even from people who had just agreed to personalized ones — your answer was collected and then ignored. That is fixed. This version asks once whether tracking is allowed, and then respects what you picked. Decline, or ignore the prompt, and nothing about the app changes: ads simply stay non-personalized, exactly as before.

  • The banner is larger.
  • The full-screen ad before a video appears at most every 30 minutes, and after every fifth start with at least five minutes in between.
  • Ads no longer stay blank after a failed load.
