With device sync, your library looks the same on your iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and Mac. It runs through your own iCloud — there is no server of ours in between, no account with us, and nothing about what you watch reaches the developer. Device sync is part of Cobi Player Pro.
What syncs
- Favorites and your favorite folders
- The recently watched list, resume positions and the episodes you finished
- Your customized lists — what you hid and what you pinned
- Settings that belong to the account: how often the catalog refreshes, how categories and favorites are sorted, grouping by country, and list or tiles
Not synced, on purpose: your login (it stays in each device’s Keychain), the PIN of the content lock and whether it is unlocked — a lock must not open itself over the cloud — and the app language.
Turn it on
- On each device, open Settings › Device Sync and switch on Sync via iCloud.
- Use the same Apple Account on every device, with iCloud switched on.
- Set up the same provider account on every device — the easiest way to the Apple TV is a code from the iPhone.
If the same account was typed in slightly differently on two devices, Link Account joins them up.
Apple TV
On the Apple TV, every profile under Settings › Profiles and Accounts (on tvOS 18: Users and Accounts) is an Apple Account — that is the one iCloud uses — and its Store entry can name a different one for purchases. For sync, only the iCloud one matters.
One honest limitation. If an Apple TV has several user profiles, apps use the iCloud account of the default profile — which may belong to someone else in the household, no matter who is watching. tvOS has no switch for this: changing the default profile means removing it and adding an Apple Account again, which affects everyone who uses it (Apple’s steps). Until then, sync can stay empty on such a device even though everything is set up correctly. Sending your account with a code is barely affected: it also travels directly between the devices, whatever iCloud account the Apple TV uses.
Switching it off
Switch sync off at any time: what is on the device stays exactly as it is. Remove My Data from iCloud deletes what was stored in iCloud for the account you are using — with several accounts, do it once per account. Neither needs Pro.
